Salat al-Istisqa' (Prayer for Rain)

INTENSITY MARKERS:

✅ What to Do

[2]Pray Istisqa' when there is drought or delayed rainfall.
[1]Repent sincerely from sins — drought comes from disobedience. (Qur'an 7:96)
[1]Give sadaqah to the poor before praying — it hastens relief.
[2]Go out with elders, children, and animals to the prayer ground in humility. (Bukhari 1005)
[2]Pray 2 rak'ah aloud, then make prolonged du'a facing qibla, turning the cloak/reversal. (Bukhari 1011)
[2]Raise hands high in supplication — the Prophet raised them until armpits were visible. (Bukhari 1005)
[2]Make du'a: "Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna" (O Allah, send us rain). (Bukhari 1014)

What to Do ↑ As You Wish ↓
[h]Despair of Allah sending rain — only disbelievers despair. (Qur'an 30:49)
[h]Attribute rain to the stars — say "it rained by the bounty of Allah." (Bukhari 846)
[h]Complain about Allah's decree regarding weather.
